Springbrook Inlet 3

Monitoring Location

in the Springbrook Nature Center , Fridley
STORET SiteID = SpringBrook_Inlet3

Monitored By ACD Staff

Notes:

Inlet 3 to the Springbrook impoundment is located on the east side of the nature center property, near Springbrook Apartments. Water flows through ponds in the Apartment Complex before being delivered to the impoundment via this small stream. In 2005 monitoring was done inside the concrete storm water structure at the nature center/apartments property line.

A Clean Water Partnership project aimed at improving water quality and reducing the intensity of storm water events for this inlet, as well as others is being completed in 2005-2006. In 2005, major changes were made to Inlet 3. A new storm water structure was added in late winter and early spring that allows some water from large storm events to escape via an overflow structure and entirely bypass the stream. That water is delivered directly to Springbrook Impoundment via underground pipe. This should eliminate scouring and eroding of the stream during large storms. Also in 2005 this stream segment from Springbrook Apartments to the Impoundment was realigned and past erosion was repaired.
