Erosion Control Methods
Tree Revetments
Used for helping stabilize stream-banks and lakeshores along the toe. Generally made of cedar trees, as they are branchy and rot resistant. The stump of the tree is pointed upstream and anchored into the shore. Branches will slow water along bank and allow sediment to drop out and, over time, accumulate sediment behind and within the brush revetment, and eventually providing a suitable environment for other vegetation to become established.
