Land Retirement Programs

Land retirement programs are generally directed at retiring agricultural lands near environmentally sensitive areas including wetlands, stream banks and prairies. Projects often focus on buffers and wetland restorations that improve water quality and establish wildlife habitat. These programs are administered by government agencies and often provide income to landowners for enrolling marginal land in conservation efforts.
