Donation of Land

Landowners may also donate their land to a conservation organization capable of accepting and managing the land. When donating the land you as a landowner can establish restrictions on how that land can be managed. Many landowners who donate their land opt for a life estate. This allows them to live out their years on the land while spreading out the tax benefits of the donation. You need not have land rich in natural resources in order to donate, some landowners donate land to a conservation organizations with the intent the land will be sold with the proceeds going to the conservation organization. Land donations are a great way to receive tax reductions. If you are interested in donating land please check with the organization first to ensure they are able and willing to accept land.
